Our fully integrated approach spans from collecting composite waste (epoxy, polyester, with or without glass fiber) to manufacturing products and recycling them. This ensures traceability, minimizes costs, and achieves true material circularity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is our response to a significant challenge: the massive amounts of mixed composites and plastics that go unrecycled. Rather than relying on virgin materials, we transform this untapped resource into valuable, sustainable products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As paul hawken wisely said, <em>\u201crecycling will not be effective until we can consume responsibly.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why focus on circularity for composites?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The mechanical properties of composites should not be lost<\/strong><br>today, most composites are incinerated or sent to landfills. Yet, composites have exceptional advantages\u2014they\u2019re strong, corrosion-resistant, and lightweight. These properties make them ideal for applications like wind turbine blades, car parts, boats, and airplanes. Their durability and reduced weight also make them more sustainable during their use phase. However, their end-of-life challenges have limited reuse options. At Reprocover, we address this gap by creating new products that retain these benefits using only recycled composites.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The challenge of composites<\/strong><br>traditional composites are durable and lightweight but notoriously difficult to recycle. This challenge inspired the creation of Reprocover.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Process innovation<\/strong><br>we\u2019ve developed advanced methods to recycle thermosetting composites and turn them into high-quality, circular products.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Balancing environment and cost<\/strong><br>while price competitiveness remains challenging, reducing our materials\u2019 environmental footprint gives us a meaningful and strategic advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why perform a life cycle assessment (lca)?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Understanding and improving<\/strong><br>an lca allows us to analyze our environmental impact, identify areas for improvement, and demonstrate our progress to stakeholders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collaborating with experts<\/strong><br>partnering with uli\u00e8ge has helped us establish a robust, commercially viable lca methodology tailored to our needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Material choices matter most<\/strong><br>our studies reveal that material selection has the most significant impact on lca results. This insight drives us to explore improved binding agents, starting with virgin materials and progressing to recycled alternatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Concrete actions for circularity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Targeting high-value markets<\/strong><br>we\u2019re expanding into markets with higher value-added potential, such as heavy-duty infrastructure and specialized industrial applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>European collaborations<\/strong><br>participating in European region initiatives and industry cluster projects supports our sustainability goals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lca-guided decisions<\/strong><br>we use lca results to inform and refine our product development process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Researching recycled binding agents<\/strong><br>ongoing studies into recycled binders have shown multiple benefits:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enhanced environmental performance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improved mechanical properties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Better cost-effectiveness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These findings have allowed us to adjust both processes and materials for existing products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eco-design at the core<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Developing new materials<\/strong><br>we are introducing materials with superior properties that remain recyclable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Optimizing product design<\/strong><br>we reduce material usage while maintaining high functionality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Streamlined recycling processes<\/strong><br>avoiding material blending simplifies recycling and enhances circularity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Simulation and optimization<\/strong><br>working with sirris, gdtech, and uli\u00e8ge, we optimize material performance, product design, and cost efficiency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enhanced usability<\/strong><br>our designs aim for easy installation, minimizing errors and risks in new market entries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Looking ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Reprocover, we are constantly learning and evolving.
